"The Payback" is ArtOfficial's mixtape released in April 2010.
The band, consisting of rappers Newsense and Logics, as well as drummer Manny Patino, keyboardist Danny Perez, bassist Ralf Valencia and sax-player Keith Cooper, took a different route when constructing this project. Whereas most hip-hop mixtapes consist of rappers tackling beats to other artists' songs, ArtOfficial took it one step further with The Payback: They replayed and adapted some of their favorite rock and hip-hop songs to their own style, reworking songs by Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Jay-Z and others.
Making guest appearances throughout the project are ¡Mayday!‘s Wrekonize, QuESt, K. Sparks, Swamburger from Solillaquists of Sound, LLamabeats, Jesse Jackson and Asuka Barden.
